Edward Tse

Widely known as “China’s leading global business strategist”, Dr. Tse specializes in the definition and implementation of corporate transformation, organizational effectiveness, and business strategies.

He has consulted to hundreds of companies (headquartered both within and outside China) investors and start-ups, as well as public sector organizations such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Chinese Government on issues related to policies, state-owned enterprise reform and competitiveness.

He is Founder and CEO of Gao Feng Advisory Company, a global strategy and management consulting firm with roots in China, the founding Governor of the Hong Kong Institution for International Finance, adjunct Professor at the School of Business Administration, Chinese University of Hong Kong and Professor of Managerial Practice at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.

He has 30 years of strategy and management consulting and senior executive experience in 20 of which he started and led the China practice of two leading international consulting firms, first as Managing Partner, China for the Boston Consulting Group, and later as global Senior Partner as well as Managing Partner and Chairiman, Greater China for Booz Allen Hamilton/Booz&Company, having started his strategy consulting career with McKinsey & Company in San Francesco in 1988.

He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and MBA from University of California, Berkeley, and an MS and BS from MIT. He is a Chinese national and fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

A prolific writer, Dr Tse has authored numerous articles and five books such as the award-winning The China Strategy (2010) and China’s Disruptors (2015), and The New Frontier of Competition (2020) which he co-authored with Yu Huang.
