Nouriel Roubini is the CEO of Roubini Macro Associates, LLC, a global economic consultancy firm located in New York. He is also the Chief Economist for Atlas Capital Team LP, and a Co-Founder of Rosa & Roubini Associates.
In 2006, Dr. Roubini warned the International Monetary Fund of an upcoming recession due to the credit and housing market bubble. His prediction of the downside balance sheets was proven correct in 2008 when the bubble burst, leading to a global financial crisis that lasted for several years.
Dr. Roubini is a highly experienced policy expert and has a broad academic background. He is currently a Professor Emeritus and previously held the position of Professor of Economics at the Stern School of Business at New York University. He was also the Co-Founder and Chairman of Roubini Global Economics from 2005 to 2016.
During his career, Dr. Roubini has served as the senior economist for international affairs on the White House Council of Economic Advisors and as senior advisor to the undersecretary for international affairs at the U.S. Treasury Department. He has consulted for several public and private institutions, including the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Dr. Roubini has published numerous papers on international macroeconomic issues and coauthored several books. His views on global economic issues are frequently cited by the media, and he is a regular commentator on business news programs. He has been featured in several leading current-affairs publications, including The Financial Times and The New York Times Magazine. Dr. Roubini is also a monthly columnist with Project Syndicate.
Dr. Roubini received his undergraduate degree from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, and his doctorate in economics from Harvard University. Prior to joining the Stern faculty, he was a member of the economics department at Yale University.
