Dame Jenny Shipley was PM from late 1997 to late 1999. She held a number of Senior Ministerial positions in the New Zealand Government during the 90’s including health, social welfare, women’s affairs, transport, state services and State-Owned Enterprises and was a key player in driving much of the New Zealand economic and social reform of that period.
Current activities
Dame Jenny is an avid promoter of the value and relevance of inclusion and diversity in decision making, she is a member of the World Women’s Leaders Council and focuses on leadership development, philanthropy, corporate governance.
She has a particular interest for emerging economies in the Asia Pacific Region and is a regular visitor to China where she served as independent Director of the HK and Shanghai listed China Construction Bank and chaired CCBNZ for 6 years.
She is a Director of the BOAO Forum for Asia and the International Finance Forum for Asia.
She has been married to her husband Burton for 46 years and is mother to two adult children and Meme to 4 grandchildren.
She believes leadership matters and her passion is working with leaders who have the courage and competence to help “shape the future” of their communities, their companies and their country.
