Intellectual, charismatic, economic historian, author of hundreds of books, Giulio Sapelli was a full professor of Economic History at the University of Milan and columnist at ‘Messaggero’ and ‘Corriere della Sera’. He is one of the most original and unconventional voices among Italian economists.
Intellectual, multifaceted, he combines history, philosophy, sociology and humanist culture in a very personal and profound style. He has more than 400 publications to his credit. In 2018 he was one step away from becoming Prime Minister of Italy.
Born in Turin in 1947, he graduated in Economic History, and worked at the Olivetti before teaching at the University of Trieste and, from 1986 the University of Milan, where he was full professor.
He has spent a great amount of years abroad to study and teach, in particular at the at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, the London School of Economics and Social Sciences in London, the UBA de Economia in Buenos Aires and the School of Management in Sidney. His works have been translated in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and German.
