Chiara Montanari is passionate about travel, has a degree in engineering and 15 years of experience in organising and managing polar missions.
She has completed 5 missions in Antarctica, as Expedition Leader she has led missions at the most extreme international research bases on the planet (to date, representing Italy, France and Belgium).
For the past several years she has focused her interests and activities on the impact of the exponential changes we are experiencing (on individuals, on the way we work as a team, and on the ecosystem).
In addition to her Polar experiences, Chiara has worked in the UK in the digital start-up sector and in Italy as a consultant on energy saving strategies and sustainable innovation.
She currently lives in Milan where (as a coach and consultant) she works with companies to develop an “Antarctic approach,” or the ability to deal with “uncertainty” through increased resilience (individual and group) and the development of the effective ability to create opportunity and well-being in multiple contexts. This is an approach he developed together with a teacher and friend: Gianluca Bocchi, a philosopher of science and historian of ideas.
In 2014, she was awarded the “Ambrogino d’oro” for her commitment to innovation and technology transfer.
In 2015, she published the book “CRONACHE DAI GHIACCI” about her last expedition to the Antarctic Plateau, in which he proposes the extreme environment as a metaphor for the contemporary world: featured by high complexity, high risk and permanent uncertainty.
